From October 29 until November 4 2011 the International Water Week took place in Amsterdam. This was the first international water event to cover integrated solutions covering the entire water cycle. On October 31th an international delegation visited Demi Water plant Botlek, which supplies demineralised water tot 18 (petro) chemical industries in the Rotterdam port area and to Waste Water Treatment Plant Harnaschpolder where research on the reuse of waste water takes place.
On November 1st Evides hosted present a session on Industrial Outsourcing during the IWW Conference. The presentations during the session provided the audience a global overview of projects and the opportunities coming from outsourcing their water utility management via long-term contracts and water partnerships. The session presented an integrated story on the topic via the speeches coming from GWI (United Kingdom), Sembcorp (Singapore), Aquatech Corp (India) and Evides (the Netherlands). GWI explained about outsourcing and provided examples of the principles and the impact of outsourcing for both governmental owned and private capital companies. Sembcorp introduced and showed the practices of outsourcing of power and water utilities at industrial parks in Singapore and China. Aquatech Corp explained about the industrial practice in India and focussed on the future of Zero Liquid Discharge technologies. Evides explained about integrated water treatment outsourcing schemes in western Europe: history, principles and future developments in the EIW company. Dow Terneuzen and Huntsman Rotterdam were applied as the Dutch co-siting and partnership examples. The conclusion of the session was that industrial water utility services are universal, but the content will show the global differences and show that water is local business both in Europe and Asia.
