For the third consecutive year the top water users within the industry in the Netherlands gathered at the "EIW Waterdag". With 2006 concentrating on process water and 2007 on water reuse, the bright sunny harbour of Rotterdam acted as the all-inspiring background for the 2008-theme “waste water”. Representatives from mainly the (petro)chemical industry, technology suppliers and partner companies showed their interest in recent developments in the field.
By means of lectures and a site visit (to the WWTP Harnaschpolder) Evides demonstrated how its vision, its active role of intermediate, its perseverence and its powerful policies have led to convince chemical and petrochemical industries as well as governmental bodies to experience Evides Industriewater as a partner-in-water. Outsourcing of water services to Evides has led to a number of remarkable projects in the Netherlands. To the benefit of both industrial clients as well as technology suppliers and the environment.
Some of the pro
jects have been highlighted (such as the recently started WWTP in Delfzijl and the big demi/water project DWP in Rotterdam), one or two new projects were announced (such as the plans for a combined waste water treatment plant in the Maasvlakte area in Rotterdam).
During the afternoon the boards of Evides (chairman P. Vermaat) and Akzo Nobel (P. Verberne) signed a contract for supply by Evides Industriewater of approximately 300 m3 demineralised water per hour. In doing so Akzo Nobel became the launching customer of the new DWP project in Rotterdam, which as of 2010 will be supplying demineralised water to a substantial number of chemical companies and three refineries in the Rotterdam area.
The group finished the day off on the majestic steamship De Hydrograaf, that for the occasion sailed along the major highlights of the Rotterdam harbour.
