By means of an official ribbon ceremony, the demonstration plant of NethWater/Evides Industriewater has officially been put in use on June 2, 2010. In the presence of delegations of Evides Industriewater (Markus Flick, Sjack van Agtmaal, Cathy Feng), Royal Haskoning (Frits Dirks), Witteveen+Bos (Li Gao) and Sinolux (Serge Kioes, Grace Zhou, Eric Chen) our host and client Beiyuan Chemicals (Mr Wang Fengjun (General Manager), Mr Shi Yanyong (Vice GM), Mr Wang Fenzhong (Branch One Manager)) has given the official start of the demo period that is estimated to last for 6 months. The project is being supported financially by a grant from the government of The Netherlands (Agentschap NL 2g@there program).

Beiyuan, a PVC producer in Jinjie (nearby Yulin) in northern Shaanxi province, is interested in having its effluent water treated and upgraded to demineralised water. If the process – as developed by NethWater - proves to be successful, chances exist to develop a full-scale plant for treatment of all effluent waters of Beiyuan’s new greenfield plant which currently is under construction. Additionally, this process can be used at various large industrial sites nearby Yulin, where vast chemical complexes are being developed that aim at converting the large coal reserves into chemicals. The shortage of water in this part of China makes reuse of (waste) water a sheer necessity. By means of the newly opened demo plant, NethWater aims at showcasing the applicability of its process design for full-scale reuse plants as well as pre-qualifying its services by means of BOT/DBFO contracts.
