Everything back to normal after incident at Schiphol airport

On July 12 an incident has taken place in one of the big aircraft halls of one of our clients. A sprinkler fire fighting system was activated for reasons yet not understood although no fire was reported. As a result big quantities of water with fire-fighting chemicals were released.
Evides Industriewater treats all waste waters of all companies and piers at the Schiphol grounds in its own WWTP. The waste water is transported to the WWTP by means of a sewer system of which Schiphol is the owner. Part of water originating from the "fire" ended up in the WWTP. This caused substantial problems due to widespread foaming. Additionally, the plant has experienced some overloading which caused the treatment efficiency to be temporarily reduced below normal.
With the assistance of additional operators and process engineers of other plants, the Schiphol operators of Evides Industriewater managed to at all times safeguard the continuity of the operation of the WWTP, restore its treatment efficiency within 24 hours and resolve the chemical overloading.
In close cooperation all parties involved will engage in searching for the cause of the problems.
